So coming to this machine was something of a step back for me, but I tried to not let my experience with high-end machines color my review of this product. All the instruction booklets and wrappings were factory sealed.I first bought a lightweight Brother, but it made me want to throw it out the window.Really disappointed with these product. The base is robust.Originally, I was just going to buy new cushions, but my existing cushions have curved shapes and I didn’t want the cookie-cutter square cushions they sell at the box stores.I am by no means a sewer, though my mother was when she was younger, so I know the basics and that’s it.I tried adjusting the tension on both the top and the bottom spools, making sure the fabric was free from loose threads under the foot, making sure nothing was caught anywhere else, threaded correctly, etc.But after trying and trying I finally found the Singer sewing machine class for this particular one. What a big mistake! That bobbin is totally useless.Although I needed about 7 you tube videos to figure out how to thread the machine, this is not because the machine is difficult but because I have ZERO sewing skills.I then purchased the Singer 1304 and within 15 minutes I had it up and running and I went from it taking me at least 2 hours to do all my stitches to less than 2 minutes.Absolute piece of garbage, would not recommend by any stretch of the imagination!I am completely happy with this purchase. The machine isn’t bad but as someone with absolutely NO experience I was hoping for something that didn’t require reading an instruction book and squinting over diagrams. It was my first time ever using a sewing machine so the instructions for how to put the string were not that easy to understand, but I looked for a video on YouTube that helped me a lot and on the same day I managed to sew my first item, a soft blanket for a baby.Found the thread cutter on the side a few times after using the machine.1, was the manual.

1, was the manual.Loading the bobbin was easy and I have not had any issues with jamming.I love my other Singer sewing machines and was looking for something basic for piecing quilt tops when traveling. But with some support from an experienced adult, it’s very manageable.I used to do some dress making, but these days I’m mostly doing alterations. After reading reviews of seemly all the machines, I knew I no longer needed anything but basic.Putting the bobbin in is about a 10 step process.I have only used at the initial set up.Amazon sent a replacement asap.I loved the fact the Singer 1304 was small but extremely sturdy.second one worked okay for awhile and whole bobbin apparatus popped out, could not repair. My granddaughter threw the box away, so I can’t return it.It is a very nice machine with basic features. Most of the steps are easy to thread the needle and thread into the machine but the problem I had arose when I finished sewing and cut the line, when I went to do another line the thread would come out of the needle and it would need to be re-threaded again.I chose Singer because I had many machines over the years. This machine is great for beginners, basic options and easy to use.But being just an ordinary dude with basic needs, this machine very much fulfills its purpose.I followed the manual to set it up.

I chose this brand because it had good reviews and has been around for a long time. Now I’m stuck with it.It was very simple to set up and easy to use – she was able to sew her first pillow. It constantly comes unthreaded, skips stitches, will only sew two pieces of fabric at a time, will only do a straight stitch , etc.I even had a very experienced seamstress look it over and not even she could make it work.It is easy to use and easy to set up.It is easy to operate and lightweight. Our daughter loves this machine! She is a beginner and was able to catch on rather quickly!Love it! So easy to use.I had not bought a sewing machine in at least 30 years.I kind of had an idea about how to use it..It is an older machine and heavy.Sewing is my hobby and I am an experience little tailor.I have had it for several months and have had no issues! Sure, I have gotten the thread stuck a few times in the under compartment but once you work with it a while you get the hang of it!! Would recommend to beginners. My good sewing machine is in Florida and I purchased this one for my summer place where my children live and often have repairs that need Mom to fix.FRUSTRATING[/review6]<!– .that I do.Con: The foot pedal.
